KC-10 Extender and the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing
A KC-10 Extender from the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron is silouetted as the sun sets during operations for the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing on the flightline May 6, 2010, at a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia. In the first three months of 2010, Airmen supporting the KC-10 deployed air refueling mission in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility flew more than 1,000 sorties offl-loading more than 108 million pounds of fuel to more than 6,600 aircraft in support of combat operations. A final farewell
Col. Soren Jones, 380th Operations Group Commander, at an undisclosed base in Southwest Asia, was met by a throng of enthusiastic well wishers as he hung up his space helmet May 5, 2010, after 17 years of flying at the edge of space in an U-2 Dragon Lady aircraft. The final flight
Col. Soren Jones, 380th Operations Group Commander, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, is part of a small pool of approximately 80 U-2 Dragon Lady aircraft pilots. On May 5, 2010 he flew his last flight racking up 89 combat sorties and more than 4,700 hours of flying time. Soaring at the edge of space
The feat of flying his first solo flight in the U-2 Dragon Lady on May 24, 1993 crystallized for Colonel Soren Jones, 380th Operations Group Commander, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, as he hung up his space helmet May 5, 2010, after 17 years of flying at the edge of space. His final flight was marked by a fini flight or final flight. Upon landing, he was handed a bottle of champagne in honor of his achievments. Colonel Jones will serve as the chief of the reconnaissance operations division at the Pentagon advising senior leaders and helping formulate policies and guidance for Army, Navy and Air Force reconnaissance operations worldwide. Last solo
At altitudes above 60,000 feet, the environment is exceptionally hostile to human life therefore Col. Soren Jones, 380th Operations Group Commander, must get into a spacesuit for his final mission like he has for the last 17 years flying the U-2 Dragon Lady aircraft.
